Magnuson's new supercharger for the 5th generation Toyota 4Runner with the 1GR V6 engiine was the real showstopper of Off-Road Expo 2017. Shown here installed on a beautiful magnetic gray metallic 4Runner with Pelfreybuilt front bumper, Safari snorkel, Frontrunner rack, and All Terrain Concepts LEDs.
The new supercharger fits all 2009-2017 Toyota 4Runners and will be released to the public in December of 2017. Fitting this supercharger adds 6 PSI of boost to your 4Runner bringing it up to 336HP to the rear wheels and 310 lb/ft of torque. Pricing is yet to be set, but should be in the low $5000 price range.
The supercharger utilizes a twin vortices design with a four lobe tight twist similar to what's used on a Z06 Corvette or AMG Kompressor. Installation takes 5 hours for a technician, the fuel pump and injectors do not need to be changed with this kit.
A thin intercooler is installed at the bottom of the radiator as well as an electric pump on the driver's side making for independent cooling of the supercharger. These components will not interfere with a winch if you have one installed.
All Magnuson superchargers come with a 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty if you have it installed by a dealer or an ASE certified technician. There is also an optional 5 year / 60,000 mile warranty available for purchase.
Adding the supercharger to your 4Runner will cost you roughly 1 MPG on average in mixed driving, losing some in the city, but increasing efficiency on the highway. Running premium 91 Octane fuel is a requirement.
